Master Thesis Project: Directed Differentiation of Livestock PSCs Towards Native Compound Production.
Project: Master Thesis Project
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Start: September, 2026
About us: Medicine depends on a handful of biologics so structurally complex that synthesis is impossible. For decades, animals have been the only source β limiting supply, introducing variability, and raising ethical questions about the sustainability of animal-dependent production. Gephion Bio exists to solve that. We are developing a cell-based biomanufacturing platform to deliver the native compound better: consistent, scalable, and resilient.
Position overview: We are offering a master's thesis project for a highly motivated student with interests in stem cell biology and differentiation. The project centers on investigating the directed differentiation of livestock pluripotent stem cells, characterizing cell identity across differentiation stages using both wet-lab and bioinformatics approaches.
The student will be involved in:
Culturing and maintaining livestock PSCs and derived differentiated cell populations
Executing adherent and suspension culture differentiation protocols to drive lineage commitment
Characterizing differentiation outcomes using immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, and bulk RNA sequencing
Quantifying compound yield across differentiation conditions using relevant analytical methods
Contributing to the optimization of differentiation conditions in an iterative, hypothesis-driven manner
We are looking for a student who:
Is currently enrolled in a master's program in molecular biology, biotechnology, cell biology, or a related discipline
Has at least 6 monthsβ hands-on cell culture experience (must-have), preferably with PSCs or differentiation models
Is familiar with standard molecular and cell biology techniques such as ICC, flow cytometry, or qPCR
Is methodical, detail-oriented, and curious about working in a fast-paced research environment
What We Offer:
π A clearly scoped thesis project with real-world applications
π Mentorship from scientists with expertise in stem cell biology
π Exposure to the biologics industry and early-stage biotech R&D
π₯³ Socials with your colleagues
